Former UFC featherweight and lightweight world champion Conor McGregor has vowed to fight for Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship in the future.
The 36-year-old became a part owner of the company in last year, and has been hinting at competing for the organisation ever since.
At a press conference in Italy to promote BKFC's event in Florence in April, McGregor said:"If you think I'm up here giving speeches, leading these men in to battle, and I won't step in there myself think again. For sure, Conor McGregor will fight in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship - mark my words."
The Irishman hasn't competed in combat sports since suffering a broken leg in a defeat to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in 2021.
But, "The Notorious" still has lofty ambitions for his career, and not just in the UFC as he said: "I wish to be Bare Knuckle [Fighting Championship] world champion. That is a significant belt to hold in your career. Nobody from boxing to Mixed Martial Arts can speak nothing bad on a Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship world champion. So for sure, I would be coming in looking for the world title."
Should McGregor compete for a BKFC world title, he'd likely have to defeat either 3-0 welterweight champion Austin Trout, or 9-1 middleweight champion David Mundell.
Outside of the title picture, McGregor has been called out by former UFC standouts Jeremy Stephens and Mike Perry.
