Former Oktagon MMA flyweight title challenger Aaron Aby returns to the cage this weekend as the Welshman will look to snap his two fight losing streak, here are the top five things we learned from his exclusive interview with Fight Night Network.
He uses his cystic fibrosis as a strength - not a weakness
Aby made it very clear that although his body does not work like everyone else's, it is a strength too as he said: "All of the battles that I have to go though, and the mental challenges makes me look after my body more. Your biggest weaknesses can become your biggest strengths if you know how to look after them."
The game plan is focused on himself, not his opponent
The Welshman believes that he is at the stage of career where he cannot completely recreate his fighting style, it is just about improving what he is already. "I will watch a bit of tape with my coaches, and we'll feel out where we think the fight is going to take place. But it always built around me and what I want to do."
He aims to earn a second title shot in the near future
Aby said that the right performance at the weekend can throw his name right back in the title picture."When you're in the flyweight division you're always one or two fights away from a title shot."
He believes that improvements have been made
The Wrexham fighter said that although his last result did not go to plan, as he was defeated by UFC veteran Zhalgas Zhumagulov, he is now a better fighter. "There was a lot of things I improved on, I just didn't get too much chance to show them."
He expects to put on another exciting fight
Aby's fighting style is renowned for high-volume, entertaining exchanges, and the Welshman promises more of the same on Saturday night as he said: "You can expect the same Aaron Aby, coming forward and pushing the pace, and fighting a mixed martial arts fight that is going to take place in all areas. I am not a patient fight, I don't like to sit back and wait. I'm going to get stuck in from the off."
