UFC 313 fighter Ozzy Diaz was rushed to the hospital for emergency laser eye surgery by doctors after his fight last weekend.
Diaz suffered a detached retina in the first round of his unanimous decision win to Djorden Santos at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Four days after the bout, Diaz took to Instagram to say: "In the first round, I guess a punch landed, and my retina got torn. I couldn't see for the entire fight. So I went to the doctor today and they had to rush me to a retina specialist.
"They used a laser to seal the retina so no more blood would get in between."
Despite the his limited vision in the final two rounds of the fight, Diaz would win both of them to secure the decision win.
After a defeat in his UFC debut, Diaz managed to turn around his fortunes with only one functioning eye.
The American went on to say: "I'm just so grateful for the UFC, Dana White, and Mick Maynard for making this happen so quickly.
"The laser surgery went very well. I'm going to be out for a few weeks, but once I'm healed up, I'll get back in there and do it again."
